Venture aged 15-19 discover their own trail, exploring more leadership opportunities by planning adventures with their Unit and doing their best to support their community in a significant way.

Also know as Explorer, being a venture make you think bigger. Seek out the answers to the big questions, and to the smaller questions that do not seem to matter but really should. To prepare these young adult to be better citizen for the society.

The Brownsea Island Story

Robert Baden-Powell took 20 young boys to an experimental camp in August 1907 at Brownsea Island, near Poole in Dorset, England. The camp last for nine days where the boys were initiated training method.  
The camp was such a success that in January 1908, Baden-Powell published the first edition of “Scouting for Boys”. It was an instantaneous success and were sold over 100 million copies making it one of the best-selling books of all time .

The Venture Unit

The Venture Unit divided into smaller Units. Each Unit consist of 6 to 8 scouts headed up by a Chief Unit and his assistant. The Chief Unit and the Assistant, are Venture Scout chosen by the their own unit to take on leadership responsibilities within the Unit.

Firstly, they have both responsibilities to welcome new youngsters to the Unit. Secondly taking the lead of certain activity such as expeditions and most important to be an extra added value to assist the Adult Leaders.

Venture Scouts are led to live the traditional “Moot” Camp which is being held every four years. For this event, all the Venture Scouts from different groups are gathered for a few days to share a unique moment through different activities proposed by the Mauritius Scout Association (MSA) or abroad.

PROGRAM

The program consists of the compulsory Core Program which includes “Challenges Badges” and the Optional Program which is, in fact “Activity Badges”.

The Core Program aims to educate the Scout using the Scout Method and through through the BP Spirit. For instance, by helping them to fully develop their abilities. Moreover, the Optional Program complements the Core Program by offering a wide range of activities that allow the Venture Scout to discover various areas.
